Action research purpose and significance

The Purpose for my action research is to monitor our ELL students
academic growth and to identify our strengths and weaknesses as a
campus. Also to research, implement and provide resources and curriculum to the
teachers and parents to ensure the students maintain a level of academic growth
and success. Through this process the teachers will monitor the ELL students
reading, writing, speaking and listening abilities each semester. The teachers
and myself will identify any students who seem to be lacking in growth and
identify what areas (i.e. reading, writing, speaking, or listening). We will
also review all interventions already in place and we will establish what
assistance and interventions we could apply to help the student in the area of
need. I will also train and develop the teachers and students on new resources
or curriculum that we discover may be helpful to our ELL students in maintaining
a level of growth in all areas monitored. The action research will benefit the
teachers, the students, the administration, the community and the campus as a
whole.

  1. I think this will be great research. Many of our ELL's struggle and it is always helpful to find new ways to approach teaching our students who speak other languages at home. I think sometimes teachers just don't know what to do to help a child that has a language barrier so sharing this information will be so beneficial to the students and I bet it will open a lot of eyes! Great topic, I will be anxious to hear how things go.
